ところで、この曲についてジェイソン・ムラーズ自身がインタビューで次のように話しています。
この曲は、ミャンマーを旅していたときにインスピレーションを受けてできた曲です。ミャンマーで人身売買ということが実際に起きているということを啓蒙し、根絶するためのコンサートが行われました。そこで出会った僧侶に「君に幸運と成功のチャンスがあるように」と言われました。僕は「なんて素晴らしい言葉なんだろうと」思ったんです。見ず知らずの他人に幸福な人生を祈るという素晴らしい挨拶だなと思いました。そこで考えてみて、知らない見ず知らずの人に幸運をもたらすのが音楽だと。「Have It All」というのも、人の幸福を祈る挨拶ということで、じゃあ人に幸福を与える挨拶の詰め物にしようと、帰りの飛行機の中で誕生したのが『Have It All』です。
「2012年以来、世界は大きく変わった。前より多くの人達が、自由と平等のために、その姿を見てもらおう、声を聞いてもらおうとマーチをしてる。アクティヴィズムが、再び盛り上がっているんだ。僕はあの時から今までに、不満を募らせた曲、怒っている曲、それに悲しい曲も沢山作った。でも、どれも進んで発表したい曲ではなかった。どれも歌いたい曲ではなかった。「ハヴ・イット・オール」は、僕が癒され、前に進むのを助けてくれる希望に満ちたメッセージの曲として、突出していたんだ。落胆とは正反対の寛容についてのメッセージの曲で、僧侶のメッセージを訳したことで、僕に授けられた曲。これはラップソングに変装した祈りの言葉で、人々に与えられて、共有されるために作られた曲だよ」
