今回は、時節柄、雨にちなんだ曲を。雨の日でも君と手を繋いで歩けたらすてきなんだと歌う曲。すこし、懐かしい感じがしますが「雨に微笑を Laughter In The Rain 」ニール・セダカ Neil Sedaka をピックアップ。メロディがとてもきれいで、ほのぼのとしたムードに心がほっこりします。雨の日でも、雨を楽しむ気持ちがあればハッピーなれるんだと再確認できる曲です。
ニール・セダカは1958年「恋の日記」でデビュー。その後「カレンダー・ガール」「恋の片道切符」「素敵な16才」 などの大ヒットを連発。日本でもポール・アンカと並ぶアイドルでした。しかしビートルズのの全米上陸でロックが流行して、人気が低迷。その後イギリスに渡ってつくったこの曲「雨に微笑を Laughter In The Rain」がイギリスでヒット。アメリカでもエルトン・ジョンの「ロケット・レコード」からアルバム「セダカズ・バック Sedaka’s Back」が発売となり、この曲が全米No.1に。ニール・セダカが再び活躍を始めることになります。
