今回は、グリーン・デイ Green Day の「マイノリティ Minority 」をピックアップ。

グリーン・デイ Green Day は、アメリカのパンク・ロックバンド。1987年結成、1990年レコードデビュー、1994年メジャーデビュー。2005年のグラミー賞でパンク・ロック・バンドとして初めて「最優秀ロック・アルバム賞」を受賞しています。2015年にはロックの殿堂入りも果たしていますね。

「マイノリティ Minority」は、作詞ビリー・ジョー・アームストロング、作曲グリーン・デイ。シングルは、モダンロックチャートで5週連続1位を記録。2000年に行われたアメリカ大統領選に対する思いをビリー・ジョーが曲にしました。

6枚目のアルバム『ウォーニング Warning 』2000年は、全米4位、ゴールドディスク認定、世界総売り上げは500万枚を記録するベストセラーに。「マイノリティ」の他、「ウォーニング」、「ウェイティング」、「メイシーズ・デイ・パレード」がシングルカットされています。
