前回ワム！の「ラスト・クリスマス」を紹介したので、続けてイギリスで人気のクリスマス・ソング「ニューヨークの夢 Fairytale Of New York」1987 ポーグス The Poguesをピックアップ。

「ニューヨークの夢 Fairytale Of New York」はロンドンのケルティック・パンク・バンド、ザ・ポーグスがレコーディングしたバラード。ザ・ポーグスのシェイン・マガウアン Shane MacGowan とシンガーソングライターのカースティ・マッコール Kirsty MacColl がデュエットしています。作詞作曲はバンドのジェム・ファイナーとシェイン・マガウアン。1987年11月にシングルでリリース、1988年のアルバム『イフ・アイ・シュッド・フォール・フロム・グレース・ウィズ・ゴッド If I Should Fall from Grace with God 』に収録されました。
