1stアルバム『シーズ・ソー・アンユージュアル She’s So Unusual』からのファースト・シングル「ガールズ・ジャスト・ワナ・ハヴ・ファン Girls Just Want to Have Fun」につづいてシングル・カットされた曲がこの「タイム・アフター・タイム Time After Time 」。初めての全米1位を獲得し数多くのアーティストにカヴァーされるスタンダード・ナンバーとなりました。

アルバムのレコーディングに参加したザ・フーターズのロブ・ハイマンとローパーとの共作。雑誌で見たSF映画『タイム・アフター・タイム』1979年のタイトルからインスピレーションを得て曲を完成すると、直ぐさまレコーディングを行ったそうです。
