今回も前回に引き続き、チープ・トリック The Cheap Trick の「サレンダー Surrender」と「エイント・ザット・ア・シェイム Ain’t That a Shame」をピックアップ。

「サレンダー Surrender」は、1978年6月にリリースされたチープ・トリックのシングル。Hot 100に初めて入ったシングルで最高62位まで上昇。

サード・アルバム「天国の罠 Heaven Tonight」1978

先行シングル「今夜は帰さない」や「甘い罠」のように日本でヒットして、アルバム『チープ・トリックat武道館』に収録された曲。

次の曲は今週出たばかりのニュー・アルバムから、タイトルは「サレンダー」。

チープ・トリックの「Surrender」は2015年公開の『ピクセル Pixels』の挿入歌として使われ、和訳付きのMVが公開されていますので、いつものぶろっこり訳ではなくこちらをどうぞ。

『ローリング・ストーン』誌が、この曲を「1970年代ティーンの最高の賛歌 the ultimate Seventies teen anthem」として「オールタイム・グレイテスト・ソング500」に選んだのはおもに歌詞のせいですね。ティーンの気持ちをよくわかってます。
