前回に引き続き 枯葉散る「冬の歌」ですが、何とこれも同じ1966年でしたね。偶然の一致でしょうか。
曲自体は、説明するまでもない超ーーー有名曲です。ただ、曲名や爽やかなメロディーだけで、夏の曲と勘違いしている人も多いかも。
歌詞をちゃんと読んでみると、真冬に夏のカリフォルニアに憧れている、夢見ているという内容ですね。
テーマが冬なだけに、冬の寒さを感じながら聴くと、より一層気分が出てきますよ。
今から、50年以上前の曲とは思えないほど、みずみずしく色あせないのはなぜなんでしょうか。

最近の録音はデジタル化されているので、オーバーダビングなどいろいろな加工ができますが、そんなことができない時代に、ここまで綺麗なハーモニーを聴かせてくれるのは、すばらしいですね。もちろん、曲も最高。夢の中に出てきたメロディーがいいので、寝ていた恋人を起こして詞を作ったというエピソードも残っています。




ところで、カリフォルニアといえば、アルバート・ハモンド Albert Hammond のカリフォルニアの青い空 It Never Rains In Southern California 1972 という曲もありましたね。






あと、イーグルス The Eagles ホテル・カリフォルニア Hotel California も。（ホテルカリフォルニアは、きっとこのブログで取り上げるでしょう。）




おっと、忘れちゃいけない。イラストでは、鈴木英人。




マンガなら、吉田秋生のカリフォルニア物語。映画なら、ビッグ・ ウェンズデー。きりがないですね。

（この曲も、タイトルやサビのメロディから脳天気な曲と思っている人が多いですが、実際はカリフォルニアで成功する夢を見て田舎から出てきたのに上手くいかないという若者の厳しい現実を歌ったものですね。）


これらの曲を聞くと、浮かんでくるシーンと台詞が、私にはあるんです。




女の子が、男の子に聞きます。


いつも、サングラスをかけているのはなぜ？


男の子は、こう答えます。


カリフォルニアの空が見えるんだ。










ただ、それだけなんですが、私も、少しの間だけどサングラスをかけていた時期がありました。


今となっては、そのシーンが小説なのか漫画なのか映画なのかも忘れてしまいましたけどね。
