イーグルスのオリジナル・メンバーがまたひとり亡くなりました。ランディ・マイズナー Randy Meisner 2023年7月26日77歳で逝去。「イーグルスの創設メンバーであり、ベーシスト、そしてヴォーカリストだったランディ・マイズナーが、慢性閉塞性肺疾患の合併症のため、昨夜ロサンゼルスにて77歳で亡くなったことをご報告いたします」
ランディ・マイズナーは、カントリー・ロック・バンド、ポコ Poco のベーシストを経て、グレン・フライ、ドン・グルーシン、バーニー・レドンとともにイーグルスを結成。初期のアルバム『Eagles』『Desperado』『On The Border』『One of These Nights』『Hotel California』に参加し成功を収めるも1977年に脱退しています。
ベーシストとしてだけでなく、代表的曲「Take It to the Limit」でのハイトーン・ヴォーカルは印象に残るものでした。そう言えば、井上陽水だったかが「イーグルスなんてずるいよね。演奏だけでなく、メンバー全員がリードヴォーカルとれるほど歌がうまい」ってなことを話してました。確かにそう思いますね。
ということで、今回はランディ・マイズナーを追悼して、「Take It to the Limit」イーグルス The Eagles をピックアップ。
