今回は、ただいまハスラーのＣＭで使われている、メッセンジャーズ The Messengersの「気になる女の子 That’s The Way A Woman Is」（1971年）をピックアップ。

じつは、ＣＭでこの曲が流れるたび、えーっとこの曲なんだっけ。歌詞も歌えるのに邦題や歌手名がでてこない。モヤモヤしてました。Siri に聞いても知らないって言われるし(^_^)。でも、さっき気になる女の子って、ポンと浮かんできました。ということで、忘れないうちに書いときます。

メッセンジャーズってこの曲しか知らないし、いわゆる一発屋 One Hit Wonder と言っていいのでは。しかも、ヒットしたのは本国アメリカよりも日本だけというから、ファンの方ごめんなさいって感じです。 でも、それだけにイントロの「あああん・・・」は、強烈。このシングルのジャケットも覚えてます。確か、何回もＣＭに使われています。

いつものぶろっこり訳です。

ところで、同年代の人は、こちらも思い出しますよね。南沙織もアルバムでカヴァーしていますが、フィンガー5のヴァージョン。日本語でも歌ってますが、英語ヴァージョンでどぞ。

で、今気づいたのがＢ面カップリング。ボックス・トップス The Box Tops の「あの子のレター The Letter」 をカヴァーしていたんですね。知らなかった。

こちらは、オリジナルの方がいいなぁ。当時16才ながら、アレックス・チルトンのハスキーで渋いボーカル。

それとも、ジョー・コッカー Joe Cocker のカヴァー。こちらも、吠えてます。

どちらも、時代を感じさせますね。こんなボーカル・スタイル、今はなかなかいませんよ。
