『フリー Free 』は、アメリカ合衆国のベーシスト、マーカス・ミラーが2007年に発表したスタジオ・アルバム。
タイトル・チューンはデニース・ウィリアムスによる1976年のシングル・ヒット曲のカヴァーで、私の好きな コリーヌ・ベイリー・レイ Corinne Bailey Rae がゲスト参加してます。彼女らしい肩の力が抜けた、ゆったりほっこり感のある曲になっています。参加メンバーは、Deneice Williams, Hank Redd, Nathan Watts, Susaye Greene。

「ブラスト」は、トルコの音階とオールドスクール・ヒップホップのビートを取り入れた曲だとミラー自身が語っています。オールドスクールって良くわかりませんが、トルコっぽいですよね。しかも、格好いいベースがブンブン。
さて、「フリー Free」、オリジナルは、1976年のデニース・ウィリアムスのソウルの名曲。

デニース・ウィリアムス Deniece Williams「This Is Niecy 」1976年 に収録。そっちの方は疎い ぶろっこり でも知っている R&B・ソウルの名曲 です。ディスクジョッキーやサンプリングの方でも人気だと聴いています。

歌詞の方は、ほとんど Free Free って言う感じで、セクシーな愛の詩なんですが、デニース・ウィリアムスのボーカルはそれを透明感のある高揚へと誘ってくれています。

こちらも、デニース・ウィリアムスに負けず劣らず、いい感じです。デニースより、少しスウェットな感じがしませんか。
