「幸福の黄色いハンカチ」といえば、ほとんどの方が、高倉健さんの日本映画「幸福の黄色いハンカチ」(1977年) を思いおこされると思います。北海道を舞台にした山田洋次監督のロードムービーで、高倉健・倍賞千恵子・武田鉄矢・桃井かおりなどのしぶい演技と泣かせるストーリーで、第1回日本アカデミー賞をはじめ日本の映画賞を総なめにしています。

で、この映画が実は、「ドーン Dawn」というグループの「幸せの黄色いリボン Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree 」という歌がきっかけになってつくられたということを、みなさんはご存じでしょうか。私くらいの年代の洋楽ファン・映画ファンには有名なエピソードなんですが。（諸説あります）

最近ラジオ・テレビで聞くことは少なくなりましたが、ドーン Dawn は1970年前半に活躍した、トニー・オーランド Tony Orlando を中心としたアメリカのポップス・グループです。トニー・オーランド&ドーン Tony Orlando & Dawn 、ドーン Dawn 、または Dawn featuring Tony Orlando などと何度か名前が変わっています。

1970年にリリースした「恋するキャンディダ Candida 」が、スマッシュ・ヒット。1971年に「ノックは3回 Knock Three Times 」、そして1973年には「刑期を終えて出所した男が妻のいる家に帰ろうとする。もし妻が男を待っているなら、庭の木に黄色いリボンを結んでいてくれるはず」という内容の「幸せの黄色いリボン Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree 」が、ビルボードの年間ランキング1位となる大ヒット。他にも、「嘆きのジプシー・ローズ Say,Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose 」1973年、「恋のシーソー・ゲーム He Don’t Love You (Like I Love You)」1975年など、当時のヒット・チャートを賑わせていました。

とい言うことで、「幸せの黄色いリボン Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree 」は、ドーン Dawn の代表曲ということになります。

けれども、いつものように（黄色いリボンも好きですが）ドーン Dawn と言えば、私個人的には、何といってもこの曲「ノックは3回 Knock Three Times 」が、いちばん印象に残っています。というか、レコードがすり切れるほど聞いていました。もはや、常套句ですが。

天井をドン・ドン・ドンと３回叩いたら Yes 、パイプをカン・カンと2回叩けば No が合図とか、しゃれてませんか。

それにしても、いや、ほんとにこのジャケット、懐かしいです。情報の少ない時代、穴が開くほど見てました。でも、カラー写真でさえないんですね。

ところが、このブログを書くためにネットをさまよっていたところ、この動画を見つけました。男４人のグループじゃなかったんかーい。と、思わずつっこみましたね。（実は、でっちあげのグループだったとか。今まで、だまされてました。）

最後に、おまけですが「幸せの黄色いハンカチ」は、アメリカでほぼ同じストーリー展開でリメイクされています。「イエロー・ハンカチーフ The Yellow Handkerchief 」2008年。その予告編を見ていたら、どこがで見たことのある女優さんが。桃井かおりの役で、あの「トワイライト Twilight 」シリーズのベラ・スワンで有名になった、クリステン・スチュワート Kristen Stewart が出演していました。「トワイライト〜初恋〜 Twilight 」も2008年、同年ですね。興味のある方は、ご覧になってはいかがでしょうか。
