Album「Welcome To The Real World」
Mr.ミスターMr. Misterは、スタジオ・ミュージシャンとして活動していたリチャード・ペイジ、スティーヴ・ジョージ、スティーヴ・ファリス、パット・マステロットが1984年に結成したアメリカのバンド。チャード・ペイジはビッグネームのTOTOやシカゴに参加をもとめられたが断り自身のバンドを結成。1985年のセカンド・アルバム「ウェルカム・トゥ・ザ・リアル・ワールドWelcome To The Real World」」からシングル「ブロウクン・ウィングス Broken Wings」と「キリエ Kyrie」が全米1位を記録、アルバムも1位の大ヒットを成し遂げました。
今回ピック・アップするのは、セカンド・シングルの「キリエ Kyrie」。聞いてわかるように、宗教的な雰囲気をもちながらも軽快なロックに仕上がっています。
タイトルや印象的なフレーズに使われているキリエは、Wikipediaによると
キリエ（Kyrie）はギリシア語の κύριος（kyrios – 主）の呼格κύριεをラテン文字で表わしたもので「主よ」を意味する。また、「キリエ」（もしくは「キリエ・エレイソン」）はキリスト教の礼拝における重要な祈りの一つ。日本のカトリック教会では第2バチカン公会議以降典礼の日本語化に伴い、憐れみの賛歌と呼ばれる。日本正教会では「主、憐れめよ」と訳される。
